Baseball Recap: James Monroe Takes a Loss

James Monroe had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-13 to make it five. They came up short against the Caroline Cavaliers, falling 8-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 two weeks ago.

James Monroe saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jude Hardy, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

As for Caroline, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

On Caroline's side, Alex Thomas was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. The Cavaliers are undefeated when Thomas posts three or more hits, but 6-8 otherwise. Chayce Gustard also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. James Monroe will square off against rival Courtland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Caroline is set to take on their familiar foe Chancellor at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
