Softball Recap: Medina Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Medina Christian Academy had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 1-5 to make it 11. They lost 21-4 to the Andrews Osborne Academy Phoenix. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Phoenix this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 back in April.

As for Andrews Osborne Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games.

For Andrews Osborne Academy's part, Izzy Schuller and Iris Parker made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Schuller tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Parker pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Schuller has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Schuller got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Parker went 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That double was Parker's first of the season.

In other batting news, Anastasia Belkin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs and three RBI. Marley Novak was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Medina Christian Academy will venture away from home to face off against Norton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Andrews Osborne Academy, they will head out to square off against Columbia at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
