Softball Recap: First Christian Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Win

First Christian waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Aucilla Christian Warriors. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-5 back in March.

Victoria Loehr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, First Christian's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Roniyah Bennett, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Bennett has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played.

First Christian's record is now 10-5. As for Aucilla Christian, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-4.

Coming up, First Christian will head out to face off against Bronson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Eagles have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Aucilla Christian, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Jefferson County at 4:00 p.m. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.6 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
