Recap: Wes-Del Warriors vs. Union City Indians
If the Wes-Del Warriors were feeling good off their 68-46 takedown of the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Wes-Del ended up on the wrong side of a tough 61-39 walloping at the hands of Union City on Tuesday. Wes-Del was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Union City apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Wes-Del's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Corben Price, who scored 8 points along with 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Love, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds.
Conner Walser was the offensive standout of the contest as he scored 21 points along with 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Union City's points. Another player making a difference was Angel Nieto, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds.
Wes-Del's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Union City, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wes-Del will take on Eastern Hancock at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Union City, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Randolph Southern at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Randolph Southern focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 last Friday.
