Basketball Game Preview: Seguin Matadors vs. Highlands Owls

The Seguin Matadors will challenge the Highlands Owls at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Seguin strolled past Edison with points to spare, taking the game 58-42.

Meanwhile, Highlands had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They walked away with a 45-35 win over the Mustangs. The score was all tied up 24-24 at the break, but the Owls were the better team in the second half.

Highlands has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Seguin, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.

Everything came up roses for Seguin against Highlands when the teams last played back in November of 2023, as the squad secured a 69-33 win. Will Seguin repeat their success, or does Highlands have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
