Basketball Recap: Friday's Win Is Hillgrove's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Hillgrove had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. Everything went their way against the Paulding County Patriots as they made off with a 69-44 win. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 20 points or more this season.

Kierra Jackson had an outrageously good game as she posted 22 points in addition to seven boards and six steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Ashley Harris, who had 11 points along with eight assists and six steals.

Hillgrove smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 23 consecutive matchups.

Paulding County's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Hope Johnson, who went 6 for 11 on her way to 13 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, and Alexus Wilson, who went 7 of 15 en route to 17 points. The contest was Wilson's fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Hillgrove is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.4 points per game. As for Paulding County, they moved to 17-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Hillgrove wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 68-19 victory against South Cobb on the 4th. As for Paulding County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-49 defeat against Campbell on the 4th.
