Football Game Preview: Melrose Red Raiders vs. Woburn Memorial Tanners

For the first time this season, Melrose will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out to challenge the Woburn Memorial Tanners at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Melrose will be strutting in after a victory while Woburn Memorial will be coming in after a loss.

Melrose took a loss when they played away from home on September 12th, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took down Swampscott 20-6.

Woburn Memorial had taken Burlington down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end last Friday. The Tanners took a 19-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Devils. The loss put an end to the Tanners' undefeated start to the season.

Melrose now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Woburn Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-1.

Everything came up roses for Melrose against Woburn Memorial when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 35-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
