The Calexico Bulldogs will head out to take on the El Camino Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Calexico's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so El Camino's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Monday just wasn't the day for Calexico's offense. They lost 10-0 to Santana on Monday. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Sultans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when El Camino duked it out with Vista on Thursday. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 10-0 shutout. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.
Brooke Stark made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Stark was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Kailey Dain was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Makayla Boone was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
El Camino hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.
El Camino is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Calexico, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
Everything went Calexico's way against El Camino in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Calexico made off with a 20-4 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
