Volleyball Recap: West Franklin Takes a Loss

West Franklin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Maranatha Christian Academy Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.

While West Franklin had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-19.

Their offense was headlined by Zoe Dowd and Greelie McMahan, who picked up six kills apiece. McMahan also shared the team's lead in assists with Teegan McArthur: they picked up eight each.

Maranatha Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Macy Karlin, who had 12 digs.

West Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Maranatha Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season.

West Franklin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Yates Center on the 27th. As for Maranatha Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Osage City on the 27th.
