Preview: Carrizo Springs Wildcats vs. Somerset Bulldogs
Carrizo Springs is 2-8 against Somerset since November of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Carrizo Springs Wildcats will be playing at home against the Somerset Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Carrizo Springs has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 54-44 to Devine on Friday.
Despite their defeat, Carrizo Springs saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ysella Hinojosa, who scored five points along with five rebounds and three blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Hinojosa hasn't dropped below two blocks for five straight games. Adisyn Reyes was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Somerset pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Uvalde by a score of 63-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Somerset has suffered yet this season.
Carrizo Springs has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 19-11 record this season. As for Somerset, they bumped their record down to 8-22 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
Carrizo Springs was able to grind out a solid win over Somerset in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 46-37. Will Carrizo Springs repeat their success, or does Somerset have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
