Basketball Recap: Gallia Academy Takes a Loss

Gallia Academy suffered their biggest defeat since January 3rd on Friday. They lost 58-32 to the Fairland Dragons. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 331st, while the Dragons are ranked 33rd).

Fairland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bailey Russell led the charge by going 10 of 15 on her way to 23 points and four steals. Russell has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Addison Godby was another key player, going 5 for 8 en route to 10 points in addition to six assists and six boards.

Gallia Academy's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Fairland, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Gallia Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 48-44 victory against South Point on the 3rd. As for Fairland, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-35 defeat against Portsmouth on the 3rd.
