Seton Catholic Central's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Allan Eagles, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and two steals, and Brian Dempsey, who went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 3 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dempsey has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brayden Rumpel, who scored five points along with ten assists.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Owego Free Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. Their tough 67-41 defeat to Waverly might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Owego Free Academy has scored all season.
Seton Catholic Central's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Owego Free Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-4.
Seton Catholic Central strolled past Owego Free Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 60-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Seton Catholic Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
