Soccer Game Preview: Great Bridge vs. Currituck County

The Great Bridge Wildcats will head out to challenge the Currituck County Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Great Bridge will be strutting in after a victory while Currituck County will be coming in after a defeat.

Great Bridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Everything went their way against Princess Anne on Tuesday as they made off with a 5-1 win. It was an even better day for Audrey Orrock as she scored three goals for her team.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Currituck County and First Flight meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Wednesday. The Knights fell just short of the Nighthawks by a score of 2-1. The game was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but Currituck County couldn't quite close it out.

Great Bridge pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored nine goals over those three matchups. As for Currituck County, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5-1.

Great Bridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Currituck County in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
