Softball Game Preview: McCracken County Mustangs vs. Livingston Central Cardinals

The McCracken County Mustangs will head out to take on the Livingston Central Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McCracken County's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Livingston Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

McCracken County headed into their last contest having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Madisonville-North Hopkins let them put that streak behind them. The Mustangs put the hurt on the Maroons with a sharp 14-0 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Livingston Central duked it out with Caldwell County on Monday. The Cardinals came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers, sneaking past 6-4. The win continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Addison Tramble made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Livingston Central let Hadley Hargrove and Victoria Joiner run wild. Hargrove scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Joiner scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave Joiner a new career-high. Adalynn King also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Livingston Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Caldwell County struck out 16 times.

Livingston Central's record now sits at 9-4. As for McCracken County, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 15-4.

McCracken County took their win against Livingston Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
