Softball Recap: West Holmes Knights vs. Dalton Bulldogs

West Holmes had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-12 to make it five. They lost 11-0 to the Dalton Bulldogs. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

As for Dalton, their record now sits at 18-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the contest before.

For Dalton's part, Peyton Neiger looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Neiger has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Dalton let Hannah Wenger and Arabella Wenger run wild. Hannah went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Arabella went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave Arabella a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Skylar Fletcher, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.

West Holmes and Dalton are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Knights will head out on the road to challenge Meadowbrook at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colts' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so West Holmes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
