Soccer Recap: Lely Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Lely can now relate to. They came up short against the Estero Wildcats on Tuesday, falling 4-1. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Wildcats are ranked 75th).

Lely's goal came courtesy of Ava Ferreira, who's now up to six this season.

Lely now has a losing record at 9-10-2. As for Estero, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3-1.

Lely does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Estero, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Estero challenge the Barron Collier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Barron Collier's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
