Basketball Recap: Cary Gets the Win

Cary won the last time they faced Ashley, and Jonathan Peery did his part to make sure it happened again. The Cary Imps blew past the Ashley Screaming Eagle 74-54 on Friday thanks in part to Peery, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 29 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Cary's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Lee Podger, who posted five points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks gave him a new career-high.

Ashley lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nate Jarrell, who went 7 of 13 en route to 18 points and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Parker Pratt, who put up 12 points and five assists.

Cary's record is now 5-6. As for Ashley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Cary didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-61 win against Hoggard on the 28th. As for Ashley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 86-47 loss against Pine Lake Prep on the 28th.
