Basketball Recap: East Chambers Drops Season-High Score on Reeves

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Chambers). They wrapped up 2024 with an 85-71 win over the Reeves Raiders. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Buccaneers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 289th in Texas, while the Raiders are ranked 85th in Louisiana).

Despite the loss, Reeves still got an impressive performance from Carter Guillory, who went 8 for 18 on his way to 24 points and eight rebounds. The game was Guillory's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Stark, who posted 13 points and six assists.

East Chambers has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for Reeves, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-7.

East Chambers didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 85-83 loss against Vidor on the 28th. As for Reeves, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-61 defeat against Huntington on the 28th.
