The Pennsville Memorial Eagles will challenge the Millville Thunderbolts at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Millville will be up against a hot Pennsville Memorial team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Eagles blew past Wildwood 22-3 on Thursday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.
Chase Burchfield made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Pennsville Memorial got a massive performance out of Logan Streitz, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Streitz a new career-high. Mason O'Brien was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Pennsville Memorial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wildwood only posted an OBP of .320.
Meanwhile, while Millville put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Egg Harbor Township. The Thunderbolts put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 8-0 win. The game was the first time the Thunderbolts have beaten the Eagles on their field since May 17, 2019.
Like Pennsville Memorial, Millville also got a great game from a two-way player: Garret Shapiro. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over seven innings pitched. Shapiro also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Millville is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 7-9 otherwise. Shapiro was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Kevin Dick was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Mario Cottrell, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Millville's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-10. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Pennsville Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.
