Preview: Hilltop Cadets vs. Gorham Fayette Eagles
Hilltop has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Gorham Fayette Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hilltop will be strutting in after a win while Gorham Fayette will be coming in after a defeat.
Hilltop posted their biggest victory since December 5, 2023 on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Baltimore 58-24 at home. With Hilltop ahead 30-9 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Libbie Baker was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Hilltop's points.
Meanwhile, Gorham Fayette's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 47-26 walloping at the hands of Pettisville. Gorham Fayette has struggled against Pettisville recently, as their match on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Hilltop pushed their record up to 9-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Gorham Fayette, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.
Everything came up roses for Hilltop against Gorham Fayette when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 45-18 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hilltop since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
