Basketball Recap: Virgin Valley Takes a Loss

Virgin Valley lost against Mater Academy East Las Vegas back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Virgin Valley Bulldogs had to suffer through a 74-41 loss at the hands of the Mater Academy East Las Vegas Knights. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-19.

Virgin Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rodrigo Lopez, who posted four points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Dixon, who earned 13 points and three steals.

Mater Academy East Las Vegas' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lonnie Bass, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 boards. Bass is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Miles Williams was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Virgin Valley and nudges their season record down to 13-10. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

Virgin Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-43 win against Moapa Valley on the 7th. As for Mater Academy East Las Vegas, they will be playing at home against Pinecrest Academy Sloan Canyon at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Mater Academy East Las Vegas is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.8 points per game this season.
