Softball Preview: Venice Gondoliers vs. Granada Hills Charter Highlanders
The Venice Gondoliers will square off against the Granada Hills Charter Highlanders at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Venice comes in on ten and Granada Hills Charter on 11.
Venice is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over El Camino Real.
Violet Acensio spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Sandy Carrera was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Granada Hills Charter got themselves on the board against Banning on Thursday, but Banning never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Pilots. Granada Hills Charter also got a great performance from Addison Moorman as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Elysse Diaz, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Annabella Ramirez was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Venice's record is now 21-2. As for Granada Hills Charter, their record now sits at 26-3.
