Basketball Recap: Putnam City West Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Putnam City West can now relate to. They had to suffer through an 88-18 loss at the hands of the Broken Arrow Tigers. The Patriots' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it eight in a row.

Broken Arrow was led to victory by McKenzie Mathurin and Rekiah Bowen. Mathurin shot 70% from the field on her way to 15 points and five steals, while Bowen went 5-for-7 to rack up 11 points and six rebounds. Mathurin is crushing it when it comes to points: she's scored at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Scarlett Shell, who posted ten points and five boards.

Putnam City West's loss dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Broken Arrow, they pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season.
