The Freeman Scotties will venture away from home to challenge the Colfax Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freeman will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Freeman's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against College Place by a score of 5-0.
Kaylee Ripke made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
Ripke wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isabel Silva, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Rilyn Ripke was another, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Colfax was not the first on the board on Saturday, but they got there more often. They were the clear victors by an 18-8 margin over Asotin. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Colfax got a massive performance out of Izzy Huntley, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Huntley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hailey Vandenbark, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Colfax always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Freeman's record now sits at 16-0. As for Colfax, their record is now 10-7.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Freeman hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .395. However, it's not like Colfax struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Freeman took their win against Colfax in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Scotties since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
