Softball Recap: Chaparral Wolverines vs. Pine Creek Eagles

Chaparral's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They had just enough and edged the Pine Creek Eagles out 10-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolverines considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Sally Helgoth tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ashlyn Burgess, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Evie Smith, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.

Chaparral hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive matches.

Chaparral has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season. As for Pine Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-12.
