Softball Recap: Cumberland Dukes vs. Nottoway Cougars
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Cumberland and Nottoway have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Dukes lost 9-1 to the Cougars. The Dukes haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Cumberland saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was S. Winslow, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Cumberland's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Nottoway, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cumberland will host King & Queen Central at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Nottoway, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Buckingham at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
