Basketball Game Preview: Davis Darts vs. Syracuse Titans

Davis has gone 9-1 against Syracuse recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Davis Darts will look to defend their home court against the Syracuse Titans at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Davis has five straight wins, Syracuse has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Davis is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Layton, who was ranked tenth at the time (Davis was ranked fifth). Davis took down Layton 68-52 on Tuesday.

Coleman Atwater continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 for 19 on his way to 24 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. His evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of JT Turley, who went 5 of 7 en route to 13 points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Syracuse ended up a good deal behind Weber on Tuesday and lost 72-53. The contest marked the Titans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Davis will have to contain Carter Robinson as he made an impact in Syracuse's last game. He went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Colton Hoenigman, who posted nine points.

Davis pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Syracuse, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Davis hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 66.7 points per game. However, it's not like Syracuse struggles in that department as they've been averaging 65 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.

Davis took their win against Syracuse in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 80-59. In that matchup, Davis amassed a halftime lead of 45-21, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
