Volleyball Recap: St. John's Starts Season with Victory on the Road

St. John had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Mount de Sales Academy Sailors. The victory continues a trend for the Cadets in their matchups with the Sailors: they've now won three in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-21, 20-25, 25-9.

Cairo Turner paced St. John's offense, picking up 12 kills. Turner got some help from Wynn Eaton and her 20 assists. Finally, Turner was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. John's will face off against Flint Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mount de Sales Academy, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will square off against John Carroll at 5:30 p.m. on September 5.
