Softball Game Preview: Nicholas County Bluejackets vs. Paris Greyhounds

The Nicholas County Bluejackets will face off against the Paris Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Nicholas County will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Nicholas County's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over Calvary Christian. The win continues a trend for the Bluejackets in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won six in a row.

Sidney Sexton made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Bristal Caswell was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mady Adams, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Nicholas County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Calvary Christian only managed two hits.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 21 runs the game before, Paris was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They fell just short of Bourbon County by a score of 3-1. The Greyhounds' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Nicholas County's victory bumped their record up to 6-20. As for Paris, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11-1.

Nicholas County took their win against Paris in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-3 score. Will the Bluejackets repeat their success, or do the Greyhounds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
