Basketball Recap: Jade Bell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rocky River over North Mecklenburg

Rocky River lost against North Mecklenburg back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Rocky River Ravens came up short against the North Mecklenburg Vikings, falling 61-36. The Ravens were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-13.

Rocky River lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jade Bell, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 18 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of MaKenzie Michael, who posted three points in addition to nine boards and five blocks.

North Mecklenburg found their leader in sophomore Lenise Joseph, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Joseph's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Shanon Hoover, who had seven points and seven rebounds.

With the loss, Rocky River broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2. As for North Mecklenburg, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Rocky River will host Robinson at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for North Mecklenburg, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-24 victory against Hickory Ridge on the 13th.
