Softball Recap: Monrovia Gets the Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Monrovia ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-13 win over the West Covina Bulldogs. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

The team relied heavily on Aubrey Myers, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Delgado, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Myers wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Monrovia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

Monrovia's record now sits at 4-9-1. As for West Covina, they now have a losing record of 6-7-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monrovia will venture away from home to face off against Duarte at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Covina, they will head out to challenge Northview at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northview will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something West Covina surely won't give up without a fight.
