League recap: Moore throws longest pass in league this season for Bassfield

2A Region 7 recap October 22, 2013

Calvin Moore and Curtis Mikell provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Amite County. The connection was good for 84 yards, the longest such play in 2A Region 7 this season.

Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, East Marion beat West Lincoln 58-0. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Eagles.

Johnathan Abram threw for 278 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Abram put up the best numbers through the air as East Marion defeated the Bears. Abram's favorite target this week was Ricky Johnson, who caught 5 passes for 108 yards.

East Marion's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Abram has thrown for 1,057 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Kristopher Newson has 12 catches for 330 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Kevin Jackson's team takes on the Trojans. The Eagles are currently in first, while Amite County is in third.

West Lincoln lost to East Marion 58-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Javian MacKabee ran for 76 yards in the defeat.
