Softball Recap: Weaver Takes a Loss

Weaver lost against Randolph County on March 6th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Weaver fell just short of Randolph County by a score of 8-7. The Bearcats' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Maddie Stanford made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season. Ashlyn Coleman was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Even though they lost, Weaver was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Weaver now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Randolph County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Weaver Bearcats challenge Wellborn Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Randolph County, they will venture away from home to square off against Woodville at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
