Baseball Recap: Avondale Comes Up Short

Avondale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 12-2 to the Mott Corsairs.

Avondale saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braylin Grandberry, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. The Yellowjackets are 5-2 when Grandberry posts two or more runs, but 2-7-1 otherwise.

Avondale's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1-1 and their overall record down to 7-9-1. As for Mott, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-10.

While Avondale had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
