Volleyball Game Preview: Westlake Thunder vs. Cedar Valley Aviators

The Westlake Thunder are taking a road trip to challenge the Cedar Valley Aviators at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Westlake will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.

Westlake is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Lone Peak, who was ranked seventh at the time (Westlake was ranked fourth). The Thunder walked away with a 3-1 win over the Knights on Thursday.

Westlake was especially dominant in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 28-26, 25-13, 20-25, 26-24.

Meanwhile, Cedar Valley hadn't done well against Spanish Fork recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Aviators sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Dons.

Westlake pushed their record up to 21-5 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Cedar Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-13 record this season.

Westlake beat Cedar Valley 2-0 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Aviators have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
