Volleyball Recap: Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers vs. Maroa-Forsyth Trojans
Mt. Pulaski was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell just short of the Maroa-Forsyth Trojans by a score of 2-1. The Hilltoppers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Mt. Pulaski sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 23-25, 15-4.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Maroa-Forsyth to victory, but perhaps none more so than Peyton Torbert, who had 14 digs and five kills. The team also got some help courtesy of Brynn Jostes, who had 11 digs and two aces.
Mt. Pulaski's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Maroa-Forsyth, they pushed their record up to 6-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Pulaski will welcome Hartsburg-Emden at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Maroa-Forsyth, they will face off against Clinton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
