Preview: Dighton Hornets vs. Greeley County Jackrabbits

The Dighton Hornets will stay at home for another game and welcome the Greeley County Jackrabbits at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Dighton is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Greeley County in Kansas (Dighton is ranked 47th, while Greeley County is ranked 292nd).

Dighton put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 59-31 victory over Otis-Bison. With Dighton ahead 37-4 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Daniel Cramer and Carson Shimer were among the main playmakers for Dighton as the former scored 23 points along with five rebounds and three steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Shimer has scored at least a third of Dighton's points. George Von Leonrod was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 66 points the game before, Greeley County were a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 53-22 loss at the hands of Cheyenne Wells. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Greeley County has scored all season.

Dighton's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Greeley County, they have fallen quite a ways from their 24-1 record last season and are now at 3-9.

Dighton lost to Greeley County at home by a decisive 54-36 margin when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Thankfully for Dighton, Jaxson Brandl (who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
