Football Recap: Jaydon Page's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Steinbrenner over River Ridge + How To Watch

After soaring to 45 points the game before, Steinbrenner was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They fell 17-13 to the River Ridge Royal Knights. The Warriors gained 150 more yards on the day, but it was the Royal Knights that made the best use of them.

Steinbrenner lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jaydon Page, who picked up 96 receiving yards and one TD. Steinbrenner also got help from Jorge Mercado, who showed off his sure hands for 87 receiving yards.

While Steinbrenner came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for River Ridge: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 50%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from three players: Reece Sellers, Joshua Watson, and Jackson Bennett, who each logged one passes deflected. Steinbrenner wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 72.7%.

Steinbrenner didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Bennett Perri. Sellers was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making eight total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defending one pass.

Steinbrenner's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for River Ridge, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Steinbrenner will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Gaither at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th. As for River Ridge, they will take on Fivay at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
