Softball Recap: Manvel Sets Scoring Season-High Against Sam Rayburn

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Manvel). They blew past the Sam Rayburn Texans 16-6 on Friday. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Texans recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Manvel got a great performance from Mariah Lantz as she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. The dominant performance gave Lantz a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Skylar Frederick was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Carley Williams was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3.

Manvel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .629. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sam Rayburn only posted an OBP of .429.

Manvel's record now sits at 8-5. As for Sam Rayburn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10.

Looking ahead, Manvel will head out to take on Alvin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Sam Rayburn, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dawson at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
