Basketball Recap: Staples Takes Down Ranked Mcmahon

On Tuesday, Staples faced McMahon in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Staples Wreckers blew past the McMahon Senators 74-50. The Wreckers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 23 points or more this season.

Sam Clachko continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, as he made all 6 shots he took from beyond the arc to post 32 points. The game was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Tobias, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for McMahon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Staples will face off against Norwalk at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Staples is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 69.5 points per game this season. As for McMahon, they will take on Trumbull at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
