Softball Game Preview: Ridgefield Park Scarlets vs. River Dell Golden Hawks

The Ridgefield Park Scarlets will square off against the River Dell Golden Hawks at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Ridgefield Park is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.

Ridgefield Park is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Ramsey on Thursday. They lost 16-1 to the Rams. The Scarlets haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Ridgefield Park saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gabriella Rivera, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple. Isabella Vargas also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask River Dell). They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Pascack Hills on Wednesday. The Golden Hawks haven't had any issues with the Broncos recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Having lost for the first time this season, Ridgefield Park fell to 5-1. As for River Dell, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Ridgefield Park beat River Dell 8-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Scarlets repeat their success, or do the Golden Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
