Baseball Game Preview: Knight Hawks vs. Quartz Hill Royals

Knight is 0-10 against Quartz Hill since April of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Hawks will host the Royals at 3:15 p.m. Knight will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Knight challenged Palmdale on Friday. The Hawks came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 9-5. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Jordan Estrella was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Nathen Esparza was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Quartz Hill earned a 7-3 win over Lancaster on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Royals.

Parker White was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Quartz Hill: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 4-8 otherwise. White was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Cole Gregory and Maddox Farrell did most of the damage at the plate: Gregory went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Farrell scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Blake Johnson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Quartz Hill pushed their record up to 6-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Knight, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.

Knight might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Quartz Hill in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
