Softball Recap: Valparaiso Find Success

Valparaiso came out on top against Elkhart on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run sixth inning. The Vikings took their match against the Lions 8-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Olivia Rosenbaum spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 11 hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addison Simpson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Sulcer, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Valparaiso's victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Elkhart, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Looking ahead, Valparaiso will venture away from home to challenge Hobart at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Brickies have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Elkhart, they will head out to square off against Penn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Kingsmen have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
