Softball Recap: Carlisle Comes Up Short

Carlisle extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping them down to 3-15. They came up short against the Lower Dauphin Falcons, falling 23-3. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, with their most recent defeat being a 13-3 loss last Friday.

As for Lower Dauphin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 16 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games.

For Lower Dauphin's part, Audrey Ritter was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-5. Those two home runs gave Ritter a new career-high. Carissa Wenner also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Carlisle and Lower Dauphin could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Bison will square off against Northern York at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (521 vs. 79). Meanwhile, Lower Dauphin (ranked 158th) will meet Central Dauphin (ranked eighth) at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
