Baseball Recap: Our Lady of Mount Carmel Takes a Loss

After soaring to ten runs the game before, Our Lady of Mount Carmel was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They fell just short of the Glenelg Country Dragons by a score of 2-1. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Ethyn Street was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Our Lady of Mount Carmel is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Our Lady of Mount Carmel saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chase Counts, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Glenelg Country, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 6-13.

Looking ahead, Glenelg Country will take on Indian Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. Our Lady of Mount Carmel will be paying especially close attention to Glenelg Country's game: after Glenelg Country faces off against Indian Creek, they'll take on Our Lady of Mount Carmel again at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
