Football Game Preview: Orangeburg Prep Indians vs. Thomas Sumter Academy Generals

Two dominant wideouts in Tilden Riley and Sam Petrauschke are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Orangeburg Prep Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Thomas Sumter Academy Generals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Orangeburg Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 42.6 points per game this season.

Thomas Sumter Academy will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Orangeburg Prep extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Indians blew past Patrick Henry Academy 48-12. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-6.

Orangeburg Prep's success was spearheaded by the efforts of J'Syri Parker, who rushed for 139 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and Cholly Williams, who threw for 132 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Williams a new career-high in passer rating (158.6). Council Burroghs got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Orangeburg Prep was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 249 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Orangeburg Prep, adding 12 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Burroghs, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Thomas Sumter Academy suffered their biggest loss since August 22nd on Friday. They were beaten by Wilson Hall 42-12. The Generals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Orangeburg Prep's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Thomas Sumter Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.
