Softball Game Preview: Washington Panthers vs. Pekin Dragons

The Washington Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Pekin Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington will be strutting in after a win while Pekin will be coming in after a defeat.

Washington had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Normal University on Friday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Pioneers. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won ten matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Pekin didn't have quite enough to beat Dunlap on Thursday and fell 6-5. The Dragons have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Elicia Jackman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylea Seidell, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Washington is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Pekin, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8.

Washington couldn't quite get it done against Pekin when the teams last played back in April as they fell 10-5. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
