Basketball Recap: Mount Morris Comes Up Short

After flying high against Hinsdale Central last Monday, Mount Morris came back down to earth. The Mount Morris Blue Devils came up short against the Geneseo Blue Devils on Wednesday, falling 79-58. Mount Morris hasn't had much luck with Geneseo recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Jackson Willis continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Geneseo, going 13-for-25 en route to 29 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. Willis' evening made it 15 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Oren Ray, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 assists.

Mount Morris' defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Geneseo, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

Mount Morris didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 60-50 win against Warsaw on the 7th. As for Geneseo, they have also already played their next game, a 79-65 loss against Avon on the 7th.
