Basketball Recap: Evan Morales Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Corpus Christi Moody

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt saw some tournament action on Saturday. They walked away with a 49-40 victory over the Corpus Christi Moody Trojans. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vanguard Academy Rembrandt to victory, but perhaps none more so than Evan Morales, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. That's the most rebounds Morales has posted since back in November of 2023. Gilardo Perez was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine steals.

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Vanguard Academy Rembrandt's win bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Corpus Christi Moody, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
