Baseball Game Preview: North Baltimore Tigers vs. Ridgemont Golden Gophers

The North Baltimore Tigers will head out to square off against the Ridgemont Golden Gophers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. North Baltimore is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.

On Thursday, North Baltimore was able to grind out a solid win over Leipsic, taking the game 6-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ridgemont). They blew past Arlington 14-1 on Thursday. With that victory, the Golden Gophers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Ethan Moore made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Ridgemont's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 1-8 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaxon Stuck, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Daniel Chapman also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Ridgemont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Ridgemont moved to 5-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for North Baltimore, their record is now 5-3.

North Baltimore was able to grind out a solid victory over Ridgemont in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
